We are a very different kind of Jeweler

Unlike many retail jewelers, we understand quality and never compromise by cutting corners. Our name

and reputation mean more to us then short term profits. We do not sell illusion, we believe and stand

behind the true value of what we sell. We carry classic, timeless, heirloom quality jewelry that will stand

the test of time and be in vogue for generation after generation.

We know what we are doing

Founded in 1980 by Jeremy Thayer, J. Thayer Company began as a direct importer of important gems from Sri Lanka, Burma and Thailand. In 1982 he co-developed and co-owned Dianus Lanka LTD, at the time, considered the largest semi-automatic cutting factory in Asia and  traveled to mining centers throughout the world acquiring rough gems for production cutting. The combination of the skills he developed from learning to grade and value rough gems coupled with early years of study at the prestigious Asian Institute of Gemological Science laid the foundation for a unique expertise that very few in the industry share. He later applied this expertise in sourcing and buying estate jewelry.  Many jewelers and even gemological laboratories have called on him to assist in identifying  and evaluating rare and  important diamonds and gemstones.

Not a full service jeweler

We do not stock everything  you may be looking for, however the inventory we do carry is the  very best and priced far below retail jewelers. We are unique in the way we source our inventory. Many retailers fill their stores by attending trade shows twice a year and ordering vender lines much the same way an electronics store might acquire inventory. We buy from direct source cutters and acquire fine estate jewelry from banks and estate attorneys. We hand fabricate fine platinum and 18k gold jewelry. Additionally, we work closely with several other groups who share our expertise and sourcing practices,  buying at least one or two layers below normal channels.
